OK I'm thinking about it - how would we get started?

If you think we might be a good fit, you’re welcome to schedule a free 15-minute phone or video consultation. Just fill out the contact form, email me at admin@heydrq.com, or call (253) 785-9367 (it’s OK to leave a message).

If you’re on the fence or undecided, ask yourself: How do I want things to be different six months from now? Am I OK with things staying the same for another six months, a year, or even five years?

Do something.

What does therapy look like?

After our initial 15-minute phone or video consultation, we’ll meet and talk about what’s going on in your life. We’ll identify and build on your strengths, explore your goals, and collaborate on a plan to move you toward them.

Maybe it’s a one-time consultation. Maybe we have more follow-up sessions. At some point, we call it good—because you’re feeling good (maybe even happy and healthy?).

Over the years, I’ve helped and guided plenty of adults of all ages get closer to where they want to be, even with everything they’ve been through and everything they’re dealing with now.

How I see life: always be growing, always be learning.

What are my approaches to treatment?

I draw from several evidence-based approaches, tailoring therapy to what works best for you. Here’s a bit about the methods I use:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Changing our relationship with painful or unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and memories so we can live by our values, be the people we want to be, and do the things we want to do.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) - Working with thoughts and behaviors to help you get closer to where and how you want to be.

  • Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy - Reducing distress and strengthening adaptive thoughts related to traumatic stress through desensitization and reprocessing.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP or ERP) - Helping manage OCD symptoms by facing fears (exposures) while resisting compulsions (responses).

  • Inference-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for OCD (I-CBT) - Breaking down OCD by slowing down the process, challenging the faulty reasoning (inferential confusion) behind it, and taking power away from the OCD story.

  • Clinical Hypnosis - Getting into the zone or daydreaming with a purpose.

Each of these approaches offers tools and strategies to help you move forward. We’ll find what works best for you.
